Hi
all!
A very cheery hello
from Niagara-on-the-Lake. Ah, things are bursting into
bloom, and even though we are sneezing, it is worth every
snuffle. Our daffodils are offering a visual hello to
everyone that passes by. And, our little garden angels
have weathered the winter.
Here is the latest
issue of the newsletter. We have a wonderfulnew item
that we are just uploading to the website– a special
angel pin that you’ll read more about in the
“What’s Up” section.
As always, we

In
the Kitchen: Lemon Yummies
Nothing
smells as fresh as lemon, does it! That’s probably
why I associate lemon scent with springtime. Wonderful as
lemon smells, it tastes even better in these delicious
lemon bars. They couldn’t be easier to make, and a
batch of these on a plate positively shouts PARTY TIME!
Whip
up a batch for Sunday dinner or any special occasion.
You can spiff ‘em up with a rosette of whipped cream
or some grated lemon zest over the sugar.
Enjoy!
Lemon
Yummies
Crust
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Topping:
2 eggs, slightly beaten
4 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Crust:
Mix crust ingredients well. Press into bottom of 9 x
9-inch pan.
Bake 15 minutes at 350*F
Remove from oven and cool.
Topping:
Mix topping ingredients well.
Pour over crust.
Bake 25 minutes at 350*F.
Remove
from oven and sift confectioner’s (icing) sugar over
all.
Cool completely, then cut into squares or
bars.

Moon
Wisdom: New Moon in Taurus, May 5
As
the moon makes its way through the sky, it shines the
spotlight on the various aspects of our lives in turn.
It invites us to reflect on our relationships with others
and with ourselves - and to make those changes that bring
us to greater joy and satisfaction. The twelve signs of
the Zodiac are like twelve loving teachers, each with
lessons we can apply to our lives in turn, creating
happier lives and a happier world.
My
elder sister is Taurus, so I am familiar with this sign.
Taurus often gets a bum rap for being stubborn, overly
thrifty and sort of pushy. It’s true that growing
up as a second child following a Taurean first, I felt
that way myself on occasion. Nevertheless, Taurus has a
lot to teach us, particularly at this time of our
history, and my sister is a perfect example.
Take
the stubborn/pushy complaint Taureans face. It’s
absolutely true that Taurus can demonstrate these
qualities. It’s also absolutely true that
there’s nobody better to have on your side than a
stubborn, pushy Taurus because just as they don’t
easily give up on an issue or goal, they don’t
easily give up on their friends and family, either. It's
wonderful to have a Taurus in your corner!
It
can be uncomfortable having a Taurus encourage you,
because they encourage you a lot and will check up on you
as well. However, the often frustrating truth is that
they push themselves just as hard, which is why so many
Taureans end up quite financially comfortable in life.
They never stop trying.
As
for thrifty, well...Taurus knows the value of a dollar.
They work hard for heir money and expect their money to
return the favour. Whenever possible, Taurus is likely
to repair, reuse, or recycle instead of just discarding
and buying new. And if Taurus can get the value of a new
item for less, that’s a bonus.
Right
now, the world is facing economic challenges that can be
scary. Taurus tells us how we can get through tough
times. Don’t give up, urges Taurus - on people or
goals or efforts to reduce pollution and our ‘carbon
footprints.’ And spend more wisely, Taurus adds.
Be willing to give up some convenience or the flash of
new in favour of more cash to save - and less strain on
the planet.
Taurean
commitment to family and to society is unrivaled in the
Zodiac, so take a lesson from Taurus this month. Turn
off the cellphone and save the bees. Use the car less
and save money. Work hard and make your dreamscome to
life. “You can do it!” cheers Taurus, and
Taurus is right: we all can.

Loving
the Planet: Saving on Gasoline
Fuel
prices are rising and that can be scary. Help yourself
and the planet by conserving gasoline usage. Here are
some tips that can translate in more miles per gallon and
fewer fillups:
1.
Slow down. You can lose as much as 20% of fuel economy
when you go from 88kph/55mph to 120kph/75mph. Come on,
you’re not in that big a hurry!
2.
When you’re traveling long distances, use cruise
control. By maintaining an even speed, your car runs
more efficiently and uses less fuel.
3.
Unload the trunk. The more weight you carry in the car,
the more fuel it takes to move it, so get rid of
anything you don’t need - including the roof
rack.
4.
If you are stopped for more than a minute, turn off the
engine. Idling burns fuel and pollutes the air
unnecessarily.
5.
For our wintery friends: Don’t warm up the car
before driving off. Your car doesn’t need it, even
if the weather is cold.
6.
For our summery friends: Air conditioner use burns fuel,
and burns more if the car is driving slowly or idling.
BUT, at speeds of over 5kph/40mph, using it is more
fuel-efficient than opening the windows.
7.
When driving around town, park in shady spots to reduce
the need for air conditioning on short/low-speed
trips.
8.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions and replace air
and fuel filters as directed. If you drive in dusty
conditions, replace the air filter more
frequently.

again as a climate of fear once more takes hold of your
peoples.
The
news seems so grave, with daily reports of rising prices
and decreasing availability of commodities. Word of
hunger, illness, conflict and fresh ecological disaster
fill your newspapers. “Surely,” you think,
“things have never been so bad in the world! How
will we go on?”
Children:
fear is the enemy. Every disaster is an opportunity for
healing and restoration. Every disaster is an
opportunity for miracles to be born. But you must help.
As
you dwell on the unhappy aspects of circumstances in your
world, more unhappy energies are generated. In the
nature of all energy, then, these create new unhappy
circumstances.
It
is critical that you understand this, dearest Children.
Just as you can send us to assist and relieve suffering,
so can you support that suffering by your unhappy fearful
thoughts. You have tremendous power through your
thoughts, prayers, words, and actions and you use it at
all times. Choose,Beloveds, to use your power to create
happy and joyful changes in the world!
“How
can we?” you ask, “when the news is so
dreadful?”
Choose
joy, dear Ones, despite what you hear and see. Choose to
trust that happy and helpful ways will be found to
achieve peace among nations,healing of the planet and its
peoples, and all the good things you desire for your
world. Work toward these ends with happy, hopeful
hearts, and you will see the miracles you pray for will
occur.
